Knox Children's Ministries

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Children and families are an integral and very loved part of our congregation at Knox. On Sundays we have many different Sunday School classes for infants and kids up to Gr. 6, for middle school-ers we have a Profession of Faith class every other year and there is youth group on Friday nights for teens (Gr. 7 – 12).

At Knox we believe each child is special, important and valuable. We strive to have fun and vibrant programs that instill kids with the fundamental truths of Christianity and where they get to know Jesus up close and personal. We also believe that loving kids and families is the most important part of our ministry.

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator (CMC) runs the Sunday School program as well as other special events like the yearly Children’s Christmas Service and Party and other fun events. The CMC is also here to get to know the kids and families, making sure Knox is a place you feel welcomed.

There is always room for more volunteers in the Children’s Min, if you have a passion for working with the young (and young and heart as all our volunteers are!) please contact the CMC or any of the Children’s Min volunteers and we’ll get you plugged in.

Jammers and Young Life

Jammers (grades 7-8) and Young Life (grades 9-12) meet at the church Friday nights at 7pm. The groups study the Bible, have snacks, sports, and other special events.

Sunday School

  • The Kid’s Carpet (Both services)

A bright blue cheery patch at the front of the main sanctuary, the kid’s carpet is a space for kid’s and families to congregate during the service.

Particularly for those in the God Rocks! class, who remain in the main service for worship, there are colouring materials and  musical instruments for kid’s to use as they worship God. Younger kids are also welcome on the carpet too and parents can sit there with them through the service.

  • Nursery – 0 – 24 months ( Both Services)

Come join us in our bright, fun Nursery where babies will be cared for and taught simple bible truths and songs. Feel free to bring snacks and lunch is baby needs to eat during the service: we have highchairs. We also have a sleepy-time room for babies who need naps or for nursing mothers who need a quiet spot.

Drop babies off before or during the service, starting from 10:45 am.

  • Tiny Tots – Toddlers (2 – 4 years old)

Join in the playing, snacking, colouring and bible lesson fun in out Tiny Tots class. The toddlers have a wonderful program with two puppet friends who come each week to teach them a bible story and lesson, followed by snacks and crafts.

Drop toddlers off before the service starting from 10:45 am.

  • God Rocks! (JK – Gr. 6)

Our biggest Sunday School class is for the ‘big kids’ who are ready to delve deeper into God’s word, learn memory verses through song and have fun discovering who God is together. The first part of the class all the kids hear an interactive bible story together then they split into peer-groups (K – Gr. 2 and Gr. 3 – 6) to talk about the story, learn the memory verse and do fun crafts and activities.

Kids stay in the main service for worship and are dismissed to Sunday School after the Children’s Moment.

  • 5pm Service Sunday School (K – Gr. 6)

Join us at the afternoon service for bible study and crafts. Being a small class, younger kids and older kids get to interact and learn from each other while also participating in age-appropriate activities.

Kids stay in the main service for worship and are dismissed to Sunday School after the Children’s Moment.

  • Profession of Faith – Middle School (Gr. 7 – 8)

This class is held before the morning service and is run by a pastor or elder.
This year a young adult in our congregation co-led it in her living room where teens were welcomed each week with home made goodies. This is the atmosphere we hope to welcome young teens into as they explore their personal walk with God and get ready to profess it before the congregation. Teens in this class are given the opportunity to profess faith at the annual Children’s Christmas Service.

This class will next be offered in September 2010.

Please don't forget pick up your children promptly after the service.
