Knox Family Ministries
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got! Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (The Message)
The Director of Family Ministries (DFM) works together with the Children’s Ministry Coordinator (CMC) to oversee the youth program and Sunday School program as well as other special events like the yearly Children’s Christmas Service and Party and other fun events. Our role here is to get to know the youth, kids, and families, making sure Knox is a place where you feel welcomed. Get to know more about us by checking out our pastoral staff page.
There is always room for more volunteers in the Family Ministries. If you have a passion for working with the young (and young at heart as all our volunteers are!) please contact Alvin Kim, Director of Family Ministires or any of the Family Ministry volunteers and we’ll get you plugged in.
Families
Moms + Tots Group
On the first and third Thursday of the month, from 12:15 - 2:30 am come meet with fellow moms to encourage one another, to enter into true fellowship, and to journey with each other in the adventure of parenting!
Childcare is provided, please feel free to bring along snacks for your kids that do not contain any nuts.
The Mom's and Tots group meets from September - June each year.
Youth Ministry
Knox Youth has programs for both Junior High ( grades 7-8) and High School ( grades 9-12). The Junior High program meets on the last Saturday of the month at 6 pm. The High School program meets on Friday evenings at 7 pm. The groups get together to get to know one another better through fun games, different events, and most significantly we study important and interesting topics from a biblical perspective.
On Sundays we do a more in-depth Bible study starting at 10 am and ending before morning service.
Both groups run during the regular school year and break for the summer months. Come and join us and let’s grow together!
Children’s Ministry
At Knox we believe each child is special, important, and valuable. We strive to have fun and vibrant programs that instill in kids the fundamental truths of Christianity and where they get to know Jesus up close and personal. We also believe that loving kids and families is the most important part of our ministry.
We have a variety of programs for our children on Sundays:
Sunday School
Parents are encouraged to keep their children with them until the Children's Moment in the service to model worship. After the Children's Moment, the kids are dismissed to Sunday School.
Nursery – 0 – 24 months (Both Services)
Come join us in our bright, fun Nursery where babies will be cared for and taught simple Bible truths and songs. Feel free to bring snacks and lunch if your baby needs to eat during the service as we have highchairs you can use. We also have a sleepy-time room for babies who need naps or for nursing mothers who need a quiet spot.
Drop babies off before or during the service, starting from 10:45 am.
Tiny Tots – Toddlers (2 – 4 years old)
Join in the playing, snacking, colouring and Bible lesson fun in out Tiny Tots class. The toddlers have a wonderful program with two puppet friends who come each week to teach them a Bible story and lesson, followed by snacks and crafts.
Drop toddlers off before the service starting from 10:45 am.
School-age (JK – Gr. 5)
This Sunday School class is for the ‘big kids’ who are ready to delve deeper into God’s word, and have fun discovering who God is together. The first part of the class all the kids hear an interactive Bible story together then they split into peer-groups (K – Gr. 2 and Gr. 3 – 6) to talk about the story, and do fun crafts and activities.
Kids stay in the main service for worship and are dismissed to Sunday School after the Children’s Moment.
5pm Service Sunday School (K – Gr. 6)
Join us at the afternoon service for Bible study and crafts. Being a small class, younger kids and older kids get to interact and learn from each other while also participating in age-appropriate activities.
Kids stay in the main service for worship and are dismissed to Sunday School.
Please don't forget pick up your children promptly after the service.
Camp Ministry
At Knox we have had a vibrant, quality Christian camp running for the past 40 years. Camp ministry is a great opportunity for kids to develop deep friendships, and to learn about our great God in fun and interactive ways.
Send a kid to camp and have God change them for a lifetime!
If you would like to know how to send a child to camp, or would like more information, or if you would like to help get a kid to camp please email camps@knoxtoronto.org or call 416.921.8996.
