Your Home Church in Toronto

International Ministries

Knox International Ministries is a witnessing ministry for people of all nations in the city of Toronto by the people of Knox Presbyterian Church. We minister primarily to those who are new to this country and this city. Our aim is to show God's love and care for the stranger in this city. We desire to be your home and family.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

We have a specially designed ESL curriculum of 10-12 week classes, but you are welcome to join at any time. Classes are about two hours long with four levels from beginner to advanced. There are three terms during the year. A small fee of $5 is charged per term. We also serve dinner before the classes. For just $3 you can enjoy a church cooked meal with your fellow classmates. Our volunteers work hard to prepare a hearty meal. Meet many people from around the globe even those from Toronto. Eat, talk and get connected. Registration begins at 5:45, Dinner at 6, and classes begin at 7.

Classes are on break for the summer, but a new semester will begin Monday, September 13, 2010.

ESL Beginners Bible Study

We also have a ESL Bible Study that meets on Sunday mornings at 9:45am. Join us for this study and stay for the 11am worship service thereafter.

Volunteer with International Ministries

We are looking for individuals who have a heart for the International community!

  • Do you delight in cooking for others? Consider using your gift of hospitality by joining Knox’s ESL Hospitality team.
  • Consider teaching/learning to teach ESL classes with our Monday night program. We are looking for teachers for all levels; however, we are particularly interested in those who can teach Beginner and/or Low-Intermediate levels.
  • Consider joining the Knox ESL teaching team! We are looking for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level teachers who would like to teach in pairs. ESL certification is an asset but not required.

If you are interested in partnering in this ministry to love and bless the international community at Knox, or you feel God calling you to bless this community in some way but are not sure how, please contact Knox’s Director of International Ministries, Dominique Goold, at dom@knoxtoronto.org.
