At the Cross
February 22 - April 5
During Lent, we gather at the foot of the cross to listen to the seven final statements of Jesus – words that serve as the "centre of the centre" of our faith. Our culture is driven to escape suffering, but the passion reminds us that we know Jesus most deeply through the trials he endured and as he meets us in our own struggles.
These sayings reveal a God who is both perfectly just and lavishly merciful. At the cross, we witness power made perfect in weakness, as a Saviour lays down his life to bridge the gap between a holy God and a broken humanity. We move from a life posture of performance to the freedom of receiving a Gospel of finished work. Reformed to be a new covenant family by the blood of Christ, we are sent as his church into a world searching for his love to share a message of reconciliation and hope.
