Building & Property Committee | October Update

After extensive negotiations, our church leadership is preparing to sign a Letter of Intent to lease a portion of the church’s property to the north of the Main Church building for 99 years to Greenwin Corp. The North side Letter of Intent will form the basis of the final lease agreement for this section of property. We are working to try and have the north side lease finalized by the end of 2023.

Below is a rendering of the proposed site development plan that Greenwin and the church have presented to the City of Toronto for initial review. The site plan is consistent with the drawings that were presented and approved by the congregation for the site renewal plan. One point to note: to reduce complexity over the next 99 years, we have removed the proposed social enterprise space on the main floor of the new North building that was to have been a collaborative venture between Knox Church and Greenwin. It has been replaced with a dedicated Church space (exclusively controlled by Knox Church) and a commercial space (operated by Greenwin, with Knox Church having VETO authority over the use). We are confident that the reconfiguration of the main floor of the north side building will allow our church to engage with the wider community, while also maintaining the independence of our operations and spaces.

It is very important to note that our proposed site plan is subject to change through the City of Toronto approvals processes. We need to anticipate that changes will be required.
