Introducing Joshua

For a while this year, we didn’t know if we would find a director for camp! But through your prayers, and God’s connecting, we are grateful to introduce you to not only a new brother in our community, but also now our 2024 Camp Director, Joshua Hudson Kaduru!

Samantha Mudiappahpillai: Tell us a little about yourself - where you grew up, what brought you to Toronto?
Joshua Hudson: I'm Joshua Hudson, and I was raised in a Christian home in India. I completed all of my education at home. I finished my bachelor's degree in India before moving to Toronto to further my education. If God's will is followed, I hope to settle down in Canada.

SM: How did you connect with Knox?
JH: I had no leads when I moved to Toronto, so I went seeking for a church. To connect, I texted InterVarsity via IFES. Sadly, my college here does not have an InterVarsity group. Then, Nicky Laxton-Ward sent me an email saying, " if you're looking for a church you can come to Knox as I serve here”. I then made my first visit to Knox on January 14 and have been a part of it ever since.

SM: How has summer camp been a part of your life?
JH: My parents made me go to camp every summer when I was a kid, which annoyed me at the time, but eventually I grew to love the camps and looked forward to them eagerly. Later on, I had the opportunity to serve in ministries that serve children and teenagers. Thus, camps have become a part of my life.

SM: What makes camp an important ministry to you?
JH: If children are exposed to the Bible from an early age, I believe they will always find their way back to God, even if they may slip. Additionally, via the activities, kids develop adaptability, cooperation, and strong social skills. Likewise, camp provides the ideal setting for achieving the first two objectives. It's a significant ministry for me because of this. And I stand as the camp’s testament.

SM: What are you most excited about for camp at Knox this year?
JH: Although I had previously worked with children, my involvement in youth ministry grew over time. I'm very thrilled to get back with children as they always have super transparent emotions. Since this is my first camp experience in Canada, I'm eager to interact with new people. I feel fortunate to have learned about the history of Knox Camps, and I am really looking forward to having fun and making wonderful memories with the children.

SM: How can we pray for you as you prepare for camp?
JH: Pray for me to be able to manage both school and employment.
Pray for me to swiftly adapt to Canadian culture.
Pray for God's guidance in supervising and planning the camp.
Pray for camp hiring.
Pray that God would use me and my ability to assist the camp.
