Personal Discipleship Books: Four New Resources

While not all of these are new in terms of publishing date, all are new to the Knox library and are excellent resources for personal reflection and faith formation.

More than just self-help, feel-good books, these resources are written by trusted Christian authors and allow readers to explore an idea in an in-depth personal way, more than we generally can within a sermon or a home church meeting. One of the ways we grow in our faith is by learning from other Christians and these books are a good opportunity to do that.

This Here Flesh - Cole Arthur Riley

Creator of Black Liturgies, Cole Arthur Rile shares about the connection between spirituality, liberation, and the stories that make us. Short meditations on her family’s history explore themes of identity and dignity.

Good And Beautiful And Kind - Rich Villodas

Winner of the Christianity Today Book Award, this book examines wholeness through the way of Jesus. Looking at Jesus’ strength and tenderness, Villodas invites the reader to find this good life, this beautiful life, this kind life.

Bent Hope - Tim Huff

Bent Hope was born out of Tim Huff's unique and extensive twenty-year ministry among homeless and street-involved youth and adults in Toronto, Canada. It is a collection of thoughtful narratives that draw the reader towards compassion for our city’s most vulnerable.

God Has A Name - John Mark Comer

God Has a Name is a simple yet profound guide to understanding God in a new light--focusing on what God says about himself. This one shift has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way.
