Single-Session Bible Studies For Small Groups

If your home church or Bible study group has just a couple weeks left before you take a break or start a new series, it can be helpful to have resources on hand that can be used for a single week. This is also a great way to test out new formats, materials, or topics. Here are three that could be a good fit:

The Bible Project - Theme Discussions

These are five minute videos (of the exceptional quality and clarity we’ve come to appreciate from The Bible Project!) followed by some group discussion questions. They also share some resources for extended learning that people can take home - podcasts, books, study guides, and related videos. Not every topic has a discussion guide, but Holiness, the Advent Series, Blessing and Curse, The Test, and some of the other themes listed here do.

Christianity Today - Single Session Studies

These $5 studies are available for immediate download and they have a lot of really good topics. They’re appropriate for using over Zoom as well as in-person. They require a bit of prep from the leader to get a sense of the flow of the questions and teaching points (and work well with one person facilitating the teaching).

Foundations Study Series

This is a larger series, but the individual topics lend themselves well to a single session. In the intro section, there is a page (page V) of tips for study groups which will help to format things into a single session.
