Sermon Series: Daniel

Daniel - stained glass window

October 5 - November 23

The message of Daniel is that God is in charge of history. Kings rise and fall, nations come and go, but God remains sovereign. Even when it looks like evil is winning, Daniel reminds us that the Lord is working behind the scenes. His kingdom will outlast every empire, and He will set everything right. Daniel’s story is also about identity in Christ. He was faithful in a culture that pressured him to compromise at every turn. He and his friends knew the Lord had called them to be distinct -- and they obeyed.

Daniel is a guide for seeking the peace and prosperity of the world around us when it does not share or even actively opposes Christian faith. Whether in the workplace, through our studies, with our neighbours, or in public life, Daniel invites us to love the city without losing our commitment to God. What does it look like to stand firm in Christ while seeking the good of the culture we’re in? The hope of Daniel is that God is with His people in exile, and that His kingdom is coming.
