Gracious Response: Hurricane Melissa

When a local or global crises arises, we call our church community to a Gracious Response — we pray and we give.

For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.
 —Psalm 72:12

PRAY

This week, hurricane Melissa left a devastating mark with high-impact destructive winds and a longer tail of flooding, infrastructure failure, and humanitarian needs. Jamaica and Haiti, the hardest hit, are now in the phase of search, rescue, relief and salvage, but the path ahead is long.

For our sisters and brothers known to us, and those who are distant neighbours: let's rally together this weekend in prayer and support.

Would you join our efforts to pray?

  • Pray for comfort for the grieving and displaced: for families in Jamaica, Haiti, and across the Caribbean who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods — that they would experience Christ's peace and hope in the midst of devastation.

  • Pray for provision and protection for survivors: for the Lord to provide food, clean water, and safe shelter for those affected, and to protect communities from disease and further flooding.

  • Pray for strength for responders and leaders: for wisdom, endurance, and safety for relief workers, medical teams, and local authorities coordinating recovery efforts.

  • Restoration and renewal: for the rebuilding of infrastructure, crops, and economies — and pray that compassion, unity, and faith would grow stronger through this crisis.
